About 600,000 infringements of special laws are reported each year. Out of the total number of reports, 500,000 are registered as offences under the Road Traffic Act. Out of these, approximately 250,000 are offences in connection with automatic traffic control. Two of the other major areas are offences under the Euphoriants Act (possession of cannabis etc) and the local bye-laws.
